To save you some time on research, I have made a list of amazing places you should definitely see once you reach Amalfi. After you read the options, you will have a better idea of what you must see while exploring Italy. I assure you, whatever you choose, it will be worth it because this Italian region is made for stealing your heart!

Sorrento

One of the best Amalfi Coast towns, and the starting point of the region, is Sorrento. It is the most accessible place on the coast, which tends to get really crowded during the summer season. However, this accessibility feature allows visitors to visit surrounding spots, such as Pompeii and Naples. So, when looking for convenience during your stay on the Amalfi Coast, Sorento is a must.

This gorgeous coastal town is surrounded by cliffs, which give the coast its signature look. Wherever you turn, you will see colourful houses on glorious rocks. If you plan on visiting beaches, do not count on sandy ones because Sorrento is a rocky area. However, that does not mean the town does not have any marvellous beaches and swimming spots. On the contrary, Sorrento is famous for its amazing wooden docks with comfy lounge chairs that create a perfect relaxing setting.

This is one of the towns on the Amalfi Coast where everyone speaks English. It also has both modern and traditional Italian features and is the official transportation hub of the coast. If these are the things you need on your Amalfi adventure, then you have just found your ideal place!

Positano

The best way to see the Amalfi Coast and experience its magic is by visiting or staying in Positano. It is a town built on cliffs and home to the well-known colourful houses. People also refer to Positano as the “vertical city” because it is literally a town built upward. Once you decide to see it, make sure you are ready to take many steps, so pack some comfy shoes.

Positano is among the towns on the Amalfi Coast with unparalleled beauty and glorious landscapes. It is a place of glamour, sophistication, and elegance. In fact, it is the most popular city among the rich and famous. Therefore, do not be surprised if you see a familiar face on its streets. Besides the amazing landscapes and scenic views, Positano is also popular for its stunning restaurants, lovely bars, and outstanding nightlife. Moreover, it is heaven for real shopping lovers, thanks to the many renowned stores.

However, you should know that the town can become really pricey when it comes to accommodation, especially during the summer season. Also, it is not really a tranquil place, and it is not among the favourite spots when it comes to accessibility. So, if you are dreaming of a peaceful vacation, it might not be among the best places to stay on the Amalfi Coast.

Perhaps your best option is to consider Positano for a one-day excursion only, but be sure not to miss out on it! On the other hand, if you want a luxurious stay with miraculous views, this is your town!

Ravello

Ravello is one of the most picturesque villages on the Amalfi Coast. If you want to add a romantic touch to your Italian adventure, this is the place to go. It is one of the best places to stay on the Amalfi Coast, offering immense tranquillity and astounding views. In addition, it is really close to Positano, allowing you to feel the glamour of the place without the noisy nights.

If you decide to visit Ravello without staying there, plan your excursion during the day. It is the best time to enjoy scenic views from a cliff. However, you should know that this is one of the towns on the Amalfi Coast that do not have access to a beach. So, if you want to spend your day alongside the sea, this might not be the place you are looking for.

Vietri sul Mare

The Vietri sul Mare is the last point of the Amalfi Coast before you reach Salerno. It is one of the best Amalfi Coast towns to enjoy delightful Italian delicacies and admire the glorious views of the region. Also, Vietri sul Mare is famous for its rich ceramics tradition, so if you want to see something authentic and unique, you will love this town!

Vietri sul Mare is an ideal place to avoid the tourist crowds. People love it because of the immense tranquillity and beautiful scenery. When you need a spot to really rest and recharge, this town will provide it all!

Salerno

Salerno is basically the end point of the Amalfi Coast. At the same time, it is one of the most accessible towns to reach the Amalfi region. The city is connected to Rome by train, so if you travel to the Amalfi coast through Italy’s capital, this is a point you can easily reach. There are many things you can do in Salerno, starting from visiting castles and cathedrals to enjoying the beaches and the numerous stores.
