As Italy’s capital city and with landmarks like the Colosseum and Trevi fountain, Rome is a must-visit for any Italian holiday.

If you want to start on the right foot, you better believe the saying, “All roads lead to Rome”. Many affordable flights go directly to the Eternal City, so you should have no trouble finding one that fits your needs. Remember that this is one of the most visited cities in Europe. Therefore, you cannot miss out on it. There are simply so many things to do there! So, you will need to ensure you are well-rested before starting your Italian exploration.

Rome is a city of history, culture, architecture, and art. In other words, there is something for any taste. Whether you want to explore historical landmarks or cultural spots, the Italian capital has it all. A fascinating thing about Rome is that it boasts so many ancient features you have no choice but to allow yourself to be taken back in time. Everywhere you turn, you will see ancient remains standing as proof of the Roman times. The feeling is magical, and this itinerary allows you to be part of it, even for two days!

It’s no secret that if you want to explore every corner of Rome, you will need more than two days. However, to make the most of your trip, you should know which places you cannot miss. Depending on what you want to see, you can create your own schedule. To help you out, I have provided some suggestions I believe you shouldn’t skip when you get to Rome.

Day 3: The Amalfi Coast

Amalfi Coast is yet another gem you must include in your ten-days-in-Italy itinerary. This gorgeous place offers the most breathtaking views and picturesque landscapes in Europe. If you visit Italy in summer, you can spend a day soaking up the sun on some of the many miraculous beaches Amalfi has. Nonetheless, if you want to spend your day sightseeing, then you can explore the towns found on the coast.

Some of the romantic gems that are really worth visiting are the gorgeous Sorrento and the majestic Positano. I always recommend these two wonderful cities because they feature Italy’s essence – amazing culture and splendid architecture. They are known for their colourful buildings, majestic cliffs, and awe-inspiring views. Moreover, you can enjoy some delightful food and pretty stores that are found all around the towns.

Cinque Terre is one of the most visited places in Italy- and for a good reason. Each place is stunningly amazing, so wherever you go, you are promised an unforgettable experience. Similarly to Amalfi, these villages are colourful, charming and special in their own authentic way.

Things you should do when visiting Cinque Terre:

Spending five days on this spectacular island is an excellent opportunity to recharge your batteries and release all worries. Sardinia offers a fantastic escape from the city crowds and urban streets. With its sandy beaches and heavenly views, this island creates the perfect setting for an exotic vacation!

However, Sardinia is not all about its beach life. The island is also home to glorious mountains that are perfect for hiking. Those who enjoy an active vacation will genuinely love this place. Lucca is an amazing fortress city largely devoid of traffic and full of magnificent architecture. You can spend most of your time wandering around the peaceful streets and enjoying the tranquillity. If you ask me, this is one of the best cities to visit in Italy to experience the country’s magic.

Consider renting a bike and going around the city’s old walls. Or, take a guided bicycle tour of the city or choose to bike around on your own. During your stay in Lucca, make sure you have a couple of gelatos at least. Believe me, there are some of the best gelato shops that will give you a taste of heaven!

The Chianti region of Tuscany is a wonderful place with rich vineyards, olive groves and hill towns. It is a great spot for taking a scenic drive or renting a bike to experience some magnificent views. You can spend your days tasting wine in glorious wineries placed in majestic surroundings.
